Roissy Airport will soon have its Yotel

After London-Heathrow, Gatwick and Amsterdam Schiphol, the opening of a new branch of Yotel, the British hotel chain, at Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle airport (also known as Roissy Airport), is scheduled for the end of June, or 1 July at the latest. Paris Airports (ADP), the public company that owns the airport, has not disclosed the amount of this investment of which the operations management is retained by Yotel.

In the heart of Terminal 2E at the airport, passengers will have a choice of 80 "cabins", constituting 68 double rooms, 8 family rooms and 4 rooms for disabled persons. Yotel Paris will also feature a lounge, work areas equipped with Wi-Fi, and a TV room.

This new hotel concept, of which we spoke about in 2013 (watch our news report Sleeping cabins for airports), offers several innovative ideas. The first is the ability to rent a room by the hour (minimum of 4 hours). The second is that they are systematically located in airports just a few steps from check-in counters. Finally, the third is the “spaceship-style” cabins they offer in which everything has been optimised.

Rates will range from 59 euros for 4 hours in a double room, during the day, to 99 euros for the night. According to the chain it is a formula that appeals, with passengers, on average, spending only six to seven hours at their establishment. Just enough to recover a little before continuing their journeys.

Roissy CDG will be the fourth airport in the world to offer this concept, with Singapore due to follow. You will find the biggest of all Yotels, with over 700 rooms, in downtown New York, at Times Square.
