La Compagnie, which has been running Paris-New York flights in Business class only for the last two years, is considering the replacement of its two Boeing 757s with new generation Boeing 737s or Airbus A321s.
The A321neo is expected to begin service next year, and the Boeing 737 MAX-9 in 2018. Both can travel 1,500 kilometres (930 miles) further than the current aircraft. How so? Because of their new engines, of course, as well as new aerodynamic improvements, and additional fuel tanks.
With a range of 4,100 miles (6,600 kilometers) for the Boeing and up to 4,600 miles (7,400 kilometers) for the Airbus, these mid-haul planes will therefore be able to carry out long-haul flights. It’s a model that just might prove profitable for La Compagnie, which offers 74 seats exclusively in Business Class.
