Not surprisingly, the defense group Lockheed Martin has acquired Sikorsky for $ 9 billion. With this operation, Lockheed Martin should strengthen its position as the leading supplier to the US military.
In a press release of Monday 24th November, the American group United Technologies Corporation (UTC), based in Hartford, Connecticut; announced the departure of its Chairman and CEO Louis R. Chenevert (photo) with immediate effect. Although the Board thanked Mr. Chenevert for his 22 years of service to UTC, his leadership over the last six years and for his many contributions and important transformational initiatives during his tenure, no further explanation was offered of the reasons for this decision. He is replaced by the current CFO, 54-year-old Gregory J.Hayes, who has been at UTC for 25 years, and the Financial Officer over the last six years.
UTC is an industrial group organized around five sectors. Concerning that of aviation, UTC owns the helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky, the engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney and the systems manufacturer Hamilton Sundstrand.
UTC who employs 212,000 employees achieved sales of $ 62.6 billion in 2013.
