The Austrian company, Diamond Aircraft’s, light-piston twin DA62, having been certified in Europe last year, has just received its US certification, and first deliveries of this very high-end aircraft have begun.
With its state of the art avionics, leather seats, LED interior lighting, superb lines, and gull-wing doors, the manufacturers compare their DA62 to a "luxury flying SUV".
Behind the pilots, the two rows of passenger seats can accommodate five passengers, and for the luggage you can take with you, there are two spacious baggage compartments in the nose, plus one at the rear.
Concerning specifications, this twin-engined propeller-driven aircraft has a range of 1,500 miles (2,400 kilometres), flying at a cruising speed of 200 mph (330 km/h). Its average consumption is 10 gals (45 litres) per hour.
Located 40 miles (60 km) south of Vienna in Austria, Diamond Aircraft plan to produce fifty units of their latest gem this year. Its selling price is between 1 and 1.3 million euros, depending on the options chosen.
