During the Paris Air Show, which was held from 15 to 21 June, Liebherr Aerospace established a number of partnerships. The German equipment manufacturers were selected by Boeing, Airbus and Rolls Royce to design certain new equipment, so let’s take a look at these new contracts.

On Boeing’s 777X, Liebherr Aerospace will supply two flight control components, the power generation unit and hydraulic motor, which operate the leading edge slats on the wings, and also produce a folding wingtip system on the future US long-haul to reduce its wing span by seven metres (23 feet).

A new system on an airliner, which we will not see until the first 777X test flights planned for 2018, before its entry into service in 2020.

Liebherr Aerospace also announced the creation of a joint venture with Rolls Royce to produce the motor reducer of their next long-haul aircraft engine. This is a first for the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer).

Finally, Airbus has also called in the OEM because Liebherr Aerospace will manufacture the future A320neo and A330neo air intake and ventilation systems.
