Video - What is a fenestron on a helicopter?

- By

In aviation, a fenestron (or fantail) is present at the tail end of some helicopters and specifically those of Airbus Helicopters ; and just for the record, the fenestron was developed by the French company Sud Aviation and first installed on the Gazelle helicopter in 1967.

The fenestron has several advantages: it allows a reduction in noise level and greatly improves security on the ground for example. It also has aesthetic qualities. But what is the fenestron on a helicopter? We went to ask some passengers in an airport. The answer lies at the end of the video.
