Airline hostesses and stewards sometimes need to unlock aircraft toilets from the outside. A child stuck inside, a passenger taking a cigarette break or suffering from ill health - there is certainly no shortage of reasons for this.
But to open the toilets on an aircraft, the crew doesn’t have a special key. In fact, anyone can unlock the toilet door if they know how. You must simply lift the small panel where it’s written "toilet" or "lavatory". Hidden behind, there is an unlocking mechanism. This latch just needs to be slid to the left, and suddenly, as if by magic, the door is open.
This tip was created strictly for security reasons. So don’t play around at opening and closing toilets from the outside. It certainly won’t put a smile on everyone’s face.
