A duck’s flat beak assists it to maintain stable flight ( the french for duck is canard ), and a feature that inspired certain aircraft manufacturers. Many types of canard aircraft have been developed, some experimental, like the XB-70 Valkyrie (pictured), and amongst some of the more famous, are the Eurofighter and the Rafale fighter aircraft. In business aviation, the Piaggio 180 Avanti is one example.
