"It's a sort of snowball effect in the desert," joked the Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation, Eric Trappier. On 4 May, the Rafale officially recorded its third export success after Egypt and India.
At Doha, longside the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the President of the French Republic attended the signing of the contract for 24 Rafale combat aircraft, worth $ 6.3 billion euros. The contract was signed by both the Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation, and General Ahmad al-Malki representing the State of Qatar.
After the ceremony, Francois Hollande was heard to say, in English, to the Qatari general, "Good choice!".
Of the 24 Rafales ordered, there will be six two-seater aircraft and 18 single-seaters. Qatar also has an option on a further twelve Rafales.
