Since our last news report a year ago, the Sonaca 200 single-engine, two-seater has been continuing its development apace. The aircraft, designed for pilot training schools and leisure, should obtain its European certification in September.
Ground tests are currently underway, most recently focusing on flight controls and wing resistance. Flight tests will begin mid-April in Belgium, with further tests in Avignon, southern France. Engineers will then benefit from the weather conditions and cross winds in the Rhone valley to test the Sonaca 200.
With a weight of 960 lbs (430 kg) empty, the aircraft has a range of over 800 miles (1,300 km) for a maximum cruising speed of 132 miles (213 km/h) and a range of 7 hours. Its selling price is €175,000, excluding tax. First deliveries are expected at the end of the year.
