On 19th., September, Liebherr-Aerospace inaugurated its new logistics centre in Toulouse (south west France). The building of more than 6,000 m2 (65,000 sq.ft.) is a response to the growth of the aerospace supplier who specializes in air systems. Between 2008 and 2013, their turnover more than doubled to 450 million euros.
So, to best address the handling of the tens of thousands of pieces of equipment, and hundreds of thousands of parts that come through here every year, Liebherr has focused on "high-tech" by spending over 11 million euros.
A packaging recycling compactor, dynamic addressing of goods to increase productivity, the lastest control equipment, and an 11 metre (36 ft.) high, fully automated stock storage & retrieval system to store the some 5,000 referenced spare parts, all at the touch of a button.

"The vertical storage saves space, and also allows the operators to remain at their work stations because the parts are brought to them."
And to retrieve, store, record, and keep track of the spare parts stored in this huge area, the operators also make use of the the touch pad 17 people manage the 20,000 references with this new system in real time.
So many new technologies deployed to ultimately achieve one simple goal: to deliver in time, and on time, to the various Liebherr-Aerospace customers such as Dassault, Daher Socata, Airbus Group, Boeing or the Chinese Comac, for example.

Of the thousands of employees who work on the site, 130 are located in this new logistics centre. Today, 130,000 pieces of equipment are delivered, per year, a number that is expected to increase to 200,000 in the future.
