On the last day reserved for the sector's professionals, it's time to take stock, get their calculators out and do their sums. Firstly, for the two major aircraft manufacturers, this edition has been exceptional for Airbus, but not too bad for Boeing either.
 

We are already half-way through the Farnborough Airshow in the United Kingdom which has become the theatre of announcements and presentations of all kinds. Boeing began by launching an increased capacity 200-seater version of their 737 MAX 8.
 

On the second day of the Farnborough Airshow, 50 km ( 30 miles ) west of London, one of the 73 aircraft on the tarmac was the Boeing M.S.A. (Maritime Surveillance Aircraft), a less costly version of the current P8-A Poseidon, in service since late 2013.
 

During the first day of the Farnborough Airshow in the U.K., Airbus decided to hit hard. At a press conference on July 14th., the European aircraft manufacturer confirmed the launch of two new versions of its A330.
 

Five days from the opening of Farnborough, the biggest air show of the year, and, just to whet your appetite, here is a small selection of aircraft that will be present in the U.K. both on the tarmac and in the air. There will be a total of around one hundred. Let's take a squiz...
 

On 5th., July, an air collision was averted at Spain's Barcelona airport. A Russian UTair Boeing 767, arriving from Moscow, was making its final approach, however, at the same moment, an Argentine Airlines' Airbus A340 crossed the runway, forcing the Russian pilots to apply full power and go around to finally land their 'plane, without a hitch, a few minutes later. This is "Women of Aviation Worldwide Week", and will be celebrated in 37 countries until 9th., March. Launched in 2010 by the Women in Aviation Association, headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, this event aims to promote the female contingent of this normally, very masculine, activity. The organization today comprises some 2,000 women worldwide...
 

Despite appearances, the Singapore Airshow lacked a little sparkle. The result being that, at the end of this 4th edition, professionals of the sector are leaving, on balance, with mixed impressions. The "shower of orders" predicted by some simply did not take place - apart from a few confirmed orders...
 

On the last day reserved for professionals of the aeronautics world, we can say that "it's going well" for Messier-Bugatti-Dowty. The subsidiary of the Safran group, and longtime partner of Boeing, have just been selected by the latter to provide the wheels and carbon brakes on the 737MAX...
 

Halfway through the four days dedicated to the sector professionals, the Singapore Airshow had some surprises in reserve - beginning with a flight demonstration of Singapore's airforce aerobatic team, which this year celebrates its 45th., anniversary, and during which, the public were astounded at the "Black Knights ", mastery of their six F-16's !
