Lufthansa celebrates Oktoberfest! Lufthansa is back into Oktoberfest time. On the occasion of the German beer festival which begins this year on September 21, some of the national airline crews have already begun their 31st., Bavarian! And it's not the only surprise in reserve for passengers! For this Munich-New York flight, the passengers of the German national carrier will not feel too disoriented. For the Oktoberfest, the beer festival that originated in Bavaria, the 12 air hostesses and two stewards have dressed in the traditional costume: brightly coloured puffy dresses for the ladies / tight pants and long woolen socks for the gentlemen. Costumes, just a little outdated, although that’s normal since they date from the early 19th., century, but which visibly intrigue and amuse the passengers, but after all that’s the general idea. And you should be well served good sir! On all long-haul flights departing from Munich, Frankfurt and Dusseldorf, a wide choice of beers is on offer to passengers in Business Class. On the culinary side, traditional dishes are also served: cold smoked sausage or boiled beef; we’re already starving ! Last year, the Oktoberfest drew nearly 6 million visitors to Munich, and as many litres of beer were drunk during the two weeks of the event. Lufthansa has appropriated this tradition since 1957. Each year one new crew is chosen to wear the traditional dress. Next costumed flights on the programme are from Munich to Chicago on September 24, and on the 30th., for Tokyo!
