Mumbai: For $47 million, the Adani Group purchased Air Works, the biggest private aviation MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) company in India. Adani’s goal of bolstering India’s aviation infrastructure and improving its capabilities in both civil and defense aviation is in line with the strategic purchase.
The group’s position as a leader in the aviation industry is further cemented by this purchase, which was carried out through Adani Defence Systems & Technologies Ltd (ADSTL) and comprises an 85.8% interest in Air Works.
Adani Group Acquires Air Works MRO
With the help of a staff of more than 1,300 experts, Air Works, a leader in aviation MRO services, operates in 35 Indian cities.
Comprehensive aviation services such line maintenance, heavy checks, avionics, aircraft painting, and interior renovations are among the company’s areas of expertise.
From its facilities in Hosur (NIL), Mumbai (BOM), and Kochi (COk), it also manages base maintenance for rotary, narrowbody, and turboprop aircraft.

Notably, Air Works is a reliable partner for both domestic and foreign clients because to its regulatory permits from more than 20 international aviation agencies.
Additionally, this action coincides with the revolutionary expansion of India’s aviation industry. With plans to introduce more than 1,500 aircraft and India becoming as the world’s third-largest aviation market, the demand for strong MRO services is greater than ever.
The director of Adani Airports, Jeet Adani, claims that this acquisition is essential to building an ecosystem of integrated aviation services.
Adani Group Strategic Expansion
By offering vital MRO support for the Indian Air Force’s 737 VVIP fleet and the Indian Navy’s P-8I aircraft, Air Works has made a name for itself in the defense aviation industry.
The purchase is in line with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat program, which aims to decrease reliance on foreign MRO services and develop domestic skills.
Adani Defence & Aerospace CEO Ashish Rajvanshi emphasised the acquisition’s strategic importance.
It makes it possible for the organization to provide full-spectrum MRO services to the defense and commercial sectors.
The agreement also demonstrates Adani’s resolve to expand its own defense infrastructure and technologies, guaranteeing that India’s aviation services would continue to be competitive on a global scale.
